Dear Prospective CEF Applicant: For the past five years the Cleveland Executive Fellowship, a program of The Cleveland Leadership Center, has trained emerging leaders to take positions of responsibility in our community. This immersion-based program has certainly been life-changing for the participants and the positive reviews we’ve received from placement hosts has been gratifying and encouraging. However, the nation’s economic situation has had a negative effect on many programs, including the Cleveland Executive Fellowship, a costly program with just one single funding source – The Cleveland Foundation. As a result of this economic situation, the Cleveland Leadership Center has decided to look at alternate business model, programs and budgets. The immediate effect of that decision is our announcement that the Cleveland Executive Fellowship will be placed on-hold, commencing immediately after our current class graduates in August. It remains our strong belief that “leadership capital” is tangible, quantifiable and valuable, remaining in-need of nurturing and continuing cultivation. To that end, we are in the process of reevaluating this program from top-to-bottom in search of a model that is both fiscally sustainable and the best possible asset to the community. We appreciate your past support of the Cleveland Executive Fellowship and all of the other Cleveland Leadership programs that continue to make Greater Cleveland a better place. Sincerely,
Lee Friedman Yemi Akande, Ph.D. President & CEO Senior Director Cleveland Leadership Center Civic Education & Program Director, CEF
