OnBoard Cleveland

Applications for OnBoard Class of 2018 will open April 3, 2017. 

What is On-Board Cleveland?

OnBoardOnBoard Cleveland is a leadership and civic development experience tailored for early-career professionals. A custom-designed, highly engaging curriculum enhances communication skills, strengthens workplace presence, and creates connections between employees and their organizations and Northeast Ohio.

Participants leave the program energized and equipped to make a positive difference in their workplace and the community. They also become part of the 5,000-plus CLC Alumni network, which includes the most innovative, creative and accomplished leaders in civic Cleveland. CLC launched OnBoard as a pilot program in October 2014. The Class of 2017 will be the third OnBoard class.


Who participates?
The program targets those who are new to Cleveland or have been with their employer and/or industry sector for five years or less. Participants are selected by employers, who must sponsor at least two employees per class.

What is the time commitment?
Participants are expected to attend:
•    An opening retreat that lasts 1½ days (one overnight stay).
•    Five, 3½-hour evening sessions (dinner included) each month from October to March
An optional fall reunion will also be scheduled.

How much does it cost?
Tuition is $2,000 per participant for organizations sponsoring 2-4 employees; $1,700 per participant for organizations sponsoring 5-10 employees. Tuition includes food, materials, session activities and the overnight.

What’s the curriculum?
The curriculum is designed by Cleveland Leadership Center staff and covers, but is not limited to:
•    Understanding critical issues, assets and collaborative leadership within Cleveland’s civic infrastructure
•    Confident networking, presentations and professional interaction with employer, business and civic leaders
•    Assessing and utilizing individual strengths and values in the workplace and the community
•    Developing and communicating personal brand
•    Charting a path for civic involvement.
