Following hurricanes Irma and Maria in late 2017, the island of Puerto Rico was declared a Federal Disaster Zone. CLC is offering week-long service trips to assist with relief efforts and learn about Puerto Rico’s economic and political environment.
Service Learning trip
Each trip will be uniquely tailored for the group going but will feature three core components:
- Service projects to aid the island’s recovery.
- Meetings with leaders who will share insights on topics such as economic development, transforming communities, and the current state of recovery.
- Tours of historic places on the island and exposure to the vibrant Puerto Rican culture.
Mission trip participants will gain an appreciation for the resilient and ever-hopeful Puerto Rican people, learn more about how they can support the recovery, and see how they can work inclusively with our Puerto Rican community in Cleveland. A minimum of 25 Individuals are required for a trip.
