BVU’s Cockatils with Champions – Big & Small Sustainability
April 8 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
BVU’s Young professionals networking event.
Sponsored by: Sherwin-Williams
Sustainability is a topic that impacts both large and small corporations, and as Forbes has been asking for the past decade: “Can Corporations Save the World?”
This is an opportunity for young professionals who care about corporate social responsibility and sustainability to come together for an evening of networking and panel discussions that will shed light on the meaning of sustainability, and the role of the corporation: the large, established perspective of Covia, and the small, entrepreneurial perspective of Perfectly Imperfect Produce.
Who should attend: Any young professionals in the Northeast Ohio area interested in sustainability, entrepreneurship, and the way both small and large corporations are thinking about the future of business and communities.
Join us for drinks and appetizers at this casual happy hour event. Registration includes appetizers and two drinks.
Ashley Weingart, Founder & CEO, Perfectly Imperfect Produce
Ashley wears many hats for Perfectly Imperfect Produce (PIP) overseeing all aspects of buying, packing, logistics, customer service, marketing and more! You’ll often even see her out driving our truck picking up produce from local farms.
Ashley developed PIP as a program of Forest City Weingart Produce in an effort to reduce the waste she witnessed at all levels of the food chain and to provide more healthy food to the neighborhoods in need surrounding the business. As a female small business entrepreneur, Ashley’s perspective is on a B2C “hands-on” sustainability in daily lives.
Beau Daane, M.A., MBA, Director of Sustainable Development, Covia, formally known as Fairmount Santrol
At Covia, Beau Daane helps spread and embed sustainability using Appreciative Inquiry, advancing the work of 13 corporate sustainable development teams and five regional sustainability coordinators. Daane is also responsible for Covia’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report (sustainability report), produced according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard.
No matter the context, Daane strives to live into his vision of “People, Planet, Prosperity, Passion and Purpose.” As a huge leading minerals and materials enterprise, Daane comes from a B2B, highly regulated industry with big environmental implications.
