The Kids of 216 plans are continuing their collaboration with Give Box Cleveland for the 2019 Summer School. Building Give Boxes is a great way for the students to learn basic blueprints and become oriented with a variety of power tools before beginning residential renovation projects. This partnership is especially special because many of the locations the Give Boxes are installed in are schools and areas where students have graduated from or reside in, so they are able to make meaningful connections with youth.
As always, the students who participate the program receive the OSHA 10 & First Aid/CPR/AED certifications before beginning any construction projects.

The first five Give Box CLE pantries have been installed across the city, including the Central and Collinwood neighborhoods. Additional boxes are set to be installed in Eco Village this fall.

Ali Lukacsy-Love pitched her Give Box Cleveland idea – little free libraries for daily provision for those in need – at Accelerate 2018. Although she did not make the finalists this time, she still forged ahead and teamed up with 2017 presenter Stephanie Buda of The Kids of 216, to create the prototype for the many Little Free Pantries.
11 OSHA-certified Youth Opportunities Unlimited of Cleveland, Ohio employees will build the boxes this June, but anyone can help by becoming a steward, painting boxes during a “community give” day (TBD at the end of June) and by donating supplies like hygiene products and non-perishable goods.
