33 early-career professionals selected to build leadership capacity and civic awareness across Greater Cleveland
CLEVELAND, OH – July 21, 2025 – The Cleveland Leadership Center (CLC) has selected 33 emerging leaders for the OnBoard Cleveland (OBC) Class of 2026 (list attached), representing a cross-section of the region’s private, nonprofit, and government sectors.
OnBoard Cleveland empowers early-career professionals to explore their personal leadership style, deepen their understanding of local assets and issues, and discover how they can contribute meaningfully to the Greater Cleveland community. The seven-month program begins in September and includes monthly immersive sessions that foster civic connections, sharpen leadership skills, and build confidence in navigating both professional and community spaces.
“OBC equips rising leaders with the tools, awareness, and relationships to lead with intention—both at work and in the community,” said Becky Ruppert McMahon, President and CEO of the Cleveland Leadership Center. “This year’s class brings incredible energy and promise. They are ready to learn, grow, and begin their journey of civic leadership in Greater Cleveland.”
A few demographic highlights for the OnBoard Cleveland Class of 2026:
- 39% identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC)
- 52% come from the for-profit sector, 39% from the nonprofit sector, and 9% from government roles
Participants represent organizations such as Fifth Third Bank, Westfield, Thompson Hine, City of Cleveland, and Playhouse Square, among others.
Maya Smith, Director of Early Career Programs, added, “I am inspired by the passion and potential of this class. Their diverse backgrounds and eagerness to grow professionally and civically will make for a powerful cohort experience. I look forward to supporting them as they develop the skills and confidence to lead boldly in their organizations and across the community.”
The program concludes in March 2026, and graduates will join a growing network of more than 11,000 Cleveland Leadership Center alumni working collaboratively to strengthen the region.
