David Weiss (LC 2004) has been named interim mayor of Shaker Heights to replace Earl Leiken (LC 1982) until the election. Leiken will officially resign March 31 and become Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish’s chief of staff. According to the Shaker Heights Patch, “Weiss was a Shaker Heights City Councilman from 1996 to 1999. He was a member of the City Planning Commission from 1998 to 2002 and from 2009 through 2018” and has announced he will run in the November 2018 election for mayor.
