How We See CLE: Michelle Kane

How We See CLE is a monthly series showcasing the Cleveland Leadership Center staff’s unique perspective and knowledge of our city.

Michelle Kane, Director of Marketing & Communications

What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” – Dolly Parton

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being part of an organization that is creating a broader and deeper understanding of social and civic issues across our region and inspiring people to take action to make our community a better place for all to thrive.

What change do you hope to see in CLE within the next 5 years?
I hope that we, as a community, can become more open-minded and less risk-averse. To make progress, we need to let go of “the way things have always been done,” to look at our issues from different perspectives, and not fear new ideas and change.

What are you doing to create a better stronger CLE?
For the past two years, I have served on the Board of Bike Cleveland. We work to “create a region that is sustainable, connected, healthy, and vibrant by promoting bicycling and advocating for safe and equitable transportation for all.”

According to an annual Deloitte report, “Growth in urban bicycle use can drive profound societal changes.”

What one place do you think everyone in Cleveland (residents and visitors alike) should visit?
The Fort Hill Stairs behind the Rocky River Nature Center in the Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation offers a stunning view of the Rocky River and the surrounding shale cliffs. It’s particularly amazing when the fall colors are in full bloom.
