Leadership Cleveland Class of 2020 named

Participants to focus on increasing civic understanding and leadership in the civic realm

The Cleveland Leadership Center has selected a new class of leaders from a wide variety of public companies, private business enterprises, nonprofit and public-sector institutions to participate in the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2020.

Leadership Cleveland is an intensive 10-month program that empowers recognized, senior-level leaders with the knowledge, skills, and relationships to advance and deepen their community impact. It challenges participants to address community issues through collaborative civic leadership while developing a broader and more diverse set of relationships among peers. Class members are selected through a highly competitive and selective application process.

This year’s deep candidate pool included many established leaders eager to take their civic education and leadership to new levels and have an even greater impact on Cleveland.

“Leadership Cleveland has a long legacy of connecting leaders to work collaboratively for the good of our greater Cleveland community,” said CLC President and CEO Marianne Crosley. “Leadership Cleveland classmates and graduates form strong bonds and take active roles in being forces for positive and sustainable change in our region.”

The program year begins with a 2½-day retreat in September 2019. A civically themed session day each month thereafter is built around a highly interactive curriculum featuring other civic, political, and business leaders. A class trip in May 2020, to an area selected by the class, allows participants to learn from successful civic engagement efforts elsewhere in the country.

After a commencement ceremony in June 2020, the graduates join nearly 2,500 other community leaders who have completed the program in its past 41 years, and more than 8,700 alumni of Cleveland Leadership Center programs.

Many Leadership Cleveland alumni continue their involvement for a second year as LC2 Fellows to engage in an outcome-driven project intended to facilitate long-term, sustainable change in Cleveland.
