Phyllis “Seven” Harris appointed to the Cuyahoga County Citizens Advisory Council on Equity

Phyllis “Seven” Harris (LC2 2020, LC 2019) was recently appointed to serve on the Citizens Advisory Council on Equity, and advisory group born out of Cuyahoga County’s resolution that declared racism a public health issue. The group is tasked with reviewing and providing recommendations to reduce the disparity between Black and White people when it comes to:

  • Healthcare
  • Criminal justice system
  • Healthy food
  • Safe and affordable housing
  • Well-paying jobs and business ownership opportunity
  • Quality transportation
  • Educational opportunities
  • Safe places to be active

The council has already begun engaging with the community to hear their experiences and to discuss the effects of racism.
