The B-Buzz Baseball League pitched by Wendell Fields at Accelerate 2016 is now entering its fourth season and the league was recently granted 501(c)3 non-profit status.

To offer additional programming to their players this year,  they partnered with several outstanding community agencies that will help equip players with the skills they will need now and into the future to become productive and successful citizens, all while enjoying the game of baseball.

These partners include:

  • TV Channel 5,  Kaleidoscope Show with Leon Bibb
  • Cleveland Public Library (Lee Harvard Branch)
  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland
  • Fatherhood Initiative
  • New Bridge (Cleveland) Center for Arts and Technology
  • Cleveland Public Schools (Elementary Schools)
  • City of Warrensville Hts. (YMCA)

Their games will be played at Kerruish Park off Lee Road near I-480.  Recruitment will begin Saturday, April 7, 2018, and follow every Saturday in April with player/team placements beginning the first Saturday in May 2018.

B-Buzz Baseball League’s 4th annual Opening Day picnic will be Saturday, May 26th at Kerruish Park.  The season officially begins Tuesday, May 29th and continues through Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Their mission is to not just nurture and create superior athletes, but B-Buzz’s main purpose is to create superior citizens, by way of fostering and encouraging excellence in youth through mentorship, vocational, educational and leadership programs.

After each game, they will equip the players with nourishment for both the mind and body as a part of the league’s philosophy as they grow into outstanding young citizens of our community.

February 2016

Wendell Fields pitched his idea to re-establishing the B-Buzz Little League Baseball at Accelerate 2016. The league provided a family atmosphere, safe place and lasting friendships and became a lifeline for many African-American males in the 1960s and 70s.

After Accelerate, Wendell began registering students to play in the League’s opening day on May 28, 2016, and launched a new website. The championship game, awards and old-timer’s softball game were held for July 23, 2016. By fall 2016 the league was in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) certification … and looking ahead to summer 2017!
